Love Never Fails

1 Corinthians 13 has been on my mind quite a bit lately.  I have looked at my times in my life where I learned about what love is really about.  As I have reminisced, what came to my mind is that it was through the times of rejection and betrayal that God taught me how to love others. It was those times of being falsely accused, misjudged, talked about, and  discarded that God moved on my heart the most.  He showed me how I had been guilty of the very same things to others. He showed me another side of things. As Mother Teresa says: ” I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”  This may seem backwards, but God used those times in my life to help me learn about forgiveness and surrender.  I learned how much God truly loved me, how He was there with me through it all.  He never gave up on me. His love never gives up, never ends, never fails. If I think about how He would want me to react to those times; I am reminded to love Him and show love to others.  I realize that I am just a work in progress, and I have a long way to go.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong.  It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.  For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?  And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 7:1-2

“Judge not, that you be not judged.  For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get

God reminded me that how we are treated can’t compare to what He went through. We could never begin to understand the pain on that cross the day our Savior died for us.  How can I ever complain  or even think about my own misery? My experiences gave me a new appreciation for what He did for me.  It allowed me to understand how curses can become blessings!  I am blessed that my Father in Heaven first loved me, that He redeems all things.  I am grateful for His mercy and saving grace!

Romans 3:23-24

since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus,

1 John 4:9-11

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.  In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Genesis 50:20

As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive, as they are this day.
