January Is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Call To Prayer January 11 – 13, 2013

For the Lord hears the poor and needy and despises not His prisoners (His miserable and wounded ones).  Psalm 69:33 AMP

In January of 2010 President Obama declared January to be the annual National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, culminating in the annual celebration of National Freedom Day on February 1.  (You can read about it here.)

Prayer Points from Aglow’s Newsletter:

  • Trafficking victims – Pray for salvation, strength and protection for victims.  Pray for hope, and for an encounter with Jesus that they may know their love and value in Him and receive the abundant life Jesus came to give!  John 10:10
  • Sex and Labor Traffickers – Pray for the salvation of traffickers and dismantling of trafficking rings.  Pray for a Paul-like conversion for traffickers, brothel owners, and handlers.
  • Buyers – Pray for the “Johns” or buyers of sex.  Pray for the demand of sex for hire to be reduced; and that buyers would find peace, love, and acceptance in Christ.
  • Rescue – Pray for the rescue efforts of anti-trafficking organizations to be successful.  Pray for favor and divine protection for workers and their families.
  • Prosecution – Pray for teams of lawyers and law enforcement in your area who work to prosecute traffickers.  Pray that they would be strengthened by Christ, and not be weary in well doing.
  • Recovery – Pray for sex and labor trafficking survivors.  Pray for their full and complete healing, freedom from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, for peace, and purpose.  May they encounter the love and compassion of Jesus, who is close to the brokenhearted.
  • Church – Pray for the Church to arise in compassion and wisdom in how to love and serve trafficking victims.  Pray for wisdom in how to spread education and awareness to those in our communities to prevent trafficking.
