To Pray For The Super Bowl and Mardi Gras
O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous, thou who triest the minds and hearts, thou righteous God.
New Orleans is always unique, and in 2013 the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras will converge in a three-and-a-half-week party. The parade season opens January 19, the party hits a high point with the Super Bowl on February 3, and the grand finale is Mardi Gras on February 12.
The Super Bowl — like other worldwide sporting events such as the World Cup and the Olympics — has become known for creating somewhat of a “demand effect” for prostitution and sex trafficking. Read an article from Huff Post here
The Internet and It’s Dangers
The Internet is major tool that buyers and traffickers use.. It makes it very convenient for buyers and less risky for traffickers. A click of the mouse can send a prostitute or many into any super bowl party, sport gathering, or season training event. Men traveling to sports events can also pre-arrange their meetings over the internet. As simple as booking a hotel, they can book ‘companions’ for their sporting weekend.
Please Pray For:
Strategies to stop the internet being used as a tool for traffickers and buyers
The Super Bowl and Mardi Gras to become a platform and catalyst for raising awareness of the reality of human trafficking
Blind eyes and hardened hearts to be opened and softened to the Father’s love for human beings created in his image and His heart for justice.
The efforts of the New Orleans faith community for the 2013 Super Bowl , Mardi Gras and beyond.
For protection, freedom and salvation for the men, women and children enslaved in the United States and around the world.
For the apprehension, repentence, restoration and salvation of perpetrators, buyers, and suppliers.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
